The Northern Alps are a notorious area for climbs; they come at you thick and fast. Whilst not the highest climbs they still present an incredible challenge and have given professional riders a run for their money.

  • The 12 most famous climbs in the Northern Alps
  • Climb the Colombière – famously the first big pass in the Northern Alps
  • Ride the Madeleine – the most famous Hors category climb in the Northern Alps
  • Scale Alpe D’Huez – obviously

Many of these Classic Coles are famous finishing stages in the Tour De France, so as you can imagine they are a hard but rewarding experience. We at Polka Dot Cycling Holidays describe this French Alps cycling holiday an essential box to tick. These rides have given our customers a new experience and appreciation of these challenging stages when watching the Tour De France.

We take our climbing seriously and we offer only the best of the Alps to our clients; we provide the most challenging and beautiful climbs. We have created a route that starts from just outside Geneva and interlinks most of the major Tour stage finish climbs in the Northern Alps.
