Former pro rider, Dave Lloyd is a fully qualified senior British Cycling and ABCC coach. During his pro career he won countless races with an extensive palmares in road & track racing as well as time trialling. With this wealth of knowledge and experience, he is one of only a few that has been able to convert this to being an outstanding coach. He takes a ‘common sense’ approach to coaching and believes in treating every one of his athletes as an individual. To name but a few, he has coached several athletes on their way to joining the British Cycling programmes; Wendy Houvenhagel (Olympic and World team pursuit champion) and Andy Fenn (winner of the Junior Paris-Roubaix while he was still being coached by Dave). However he also recognises and respects that not everyone is looking to be the next World champion and has numerous success stories at all levels of cycling. Why will this week be different?
With a maximum of 20 riders each week, you will get lots of good quality time with Dave to really give you a great boost in form, as well as take home lots of knowledge and advice that has been tailored to you that you can use in the future. Dave will be on the road riding alongside you, not observing you from a bus. As well as his structured training, there will be periods of 'on the bike time' spent working on technique and lots of time off the bike to pick Dave's brain too! Every evening Dave will run a seminar on training topics and techniques which you will then be able to put this into practice the next day. There will also be a full briefing every evening, so you know exactly what you are doing the next day to get the most out of every session. Of course this will all be backed up by the impeccable organisation and support of Polka Dot Cycling!
Why Tenerife?
Tenerife is the pro-cyclists great training secret; most recently in spring 2012 Bradley Wiggins and the SKY team trained here in preparation for the Tour. In the past other big teams such as; Astana, Liquigas and Cervelo teams, to name but a few, have all trained in Tenerife.
Cycling Weekly: in this week's issue (10th Jan) of Cycling Weekly, there is a 6 page spread all about what it's like to train in Tenerife. Hannah Raynolds explains all about the terrain, weather and compares some of the great climbs in mainland Europe to Mount Teide. We were very pleased to host them during their photoshoot in Tenerife in December. It was a great experience.

Known as the "Island of Eternal Spring", with year round temperatures of 20°C+, Tenerife is a perfect place to ensure you actually have a warm weather training camp, with lots of fabulous cycling routes to suit all abilities and unlike some of the other Canary Islands, Tenerife is sheltered from the wind. There's undulating routes and climbs to well over 2000m with spectacular views. It really is a perfect training location. For more pictures of the terrain and the roads in Tenerife, see the Telegraph picture Gallery of Bradley and the SKY team in action. > Click here
